I messed this up multiple times, but it turned out great in the end. A metaphor for life, perhaps?

  • 550g of plain, wholemeal flour
  • 2 tsp biocarbinate of soda
  • 1 tsp of salt
  •  400mls whole milk
  • 3 tbsp of lemon juice

In a jug, mix the milk with the lemon juice and set aside for at least 15-20 minutes, until it begins to curdle.

Sift the flour into a large bowl, then stir in the biocarb and salt. Make a well in the middle, then pour the milk in when it’s ready.

Mix until it resembles a gloopy cake mix. Pour into a floured bread tin, sprinkle flour on top and bake for around 40 minutes at 180c (fan-assisted).

Eat warm with an obese amount of butter.
